Rundownman Laps The Field While Half The Tour Stays Home

There are weeks on the Wexford Tour where the golf does the talking, and then there are weeks where the no-shows do it louder. Matchday 15 at Horseshoe Valley Stadium gave us both in equal measure — a -28 at the top of the Premier Division that had my jaw on the floor, and a rash of nulls across the card that had me shaking my head into my tea. Let's get into it.

PREMIER DIVISION

Where do you even start with Rundownman? Minus 28. At a par 72. On a stadium course. The man didn't just win the week — he made the rest of the field look like they were playing a different sport. Four clear of Stando Cuz in second at -24, and six ahead of Jack-Mac21 in third at -22. That's not a leaderboard, that's a public humiliation. Credit where it's due — that is an elite score, and I'll say it once. But I won't gush. The standings tell the real story: Rundownman sits on 542 points, 25 clear of iluvJEEZUS in second. He's making this look routine, and that alone keeps me honest about getting too excited.

iluvJEEZUS had a fine week at -19, picking up 7 points and the H2H win over Manzanas87 — though at -5, that was hardly a contest. Jack-Mac21 edged RAYvenfanatic in one of the tighter head-to-heads of the day, -22 to -21. One shot. One point. That's Premier Division golf.

Now. The no-shows. beardedbreaux, daddyjules10, and Padraig1501 all took the -2 penalty. Brutal for daddyjules10 in particular, sitting fourth in the standings at 460.5 points, just 2.5 behind Austin in third. You don't take days off when you're in that conversation. Padraig1501 handed Austin a walkover at -16, which Austin will take without complaint. Smart positioning, even if he didn't have to earn it.

DIVISION 1

A straight tie at the top — TurnAndBurn69 and The_Milkman_Bot both carded -20 and split the 11 points. Both convincing in their H2H wins too. TurnAndBurn69 beat ChrisG1987 by 11 shots, -20 to -9. That is not a close match. The_Milkman_Bot was equally ruthless against plunk21, -20 to -11.

Sirarchibal0803 and ArfaBubble both hit -16 in a tidy shared third place, each picking up 8.5 points. BigJim_564 at -15 was solid in fifth. Below that, the division gets a bit ragged. DataPoint775 finished at even par. Even par. At Horseshoe Valley. That's poor stuff now. Benji23_150 had no bother with that head-to-head, winning -12 to E.

Alamo Kid didn't show. Handed halborn13 the points, which is just about the last thing the Division 1 standings need — free points floating around while the rest are grinding.

DIVISION 2

Flaggy1981 leads the scoring chart this week with 12 points from a -14, and backed it up with a dominant H2H win over DirtyBishop1, -14 to -2. That's the sort of week that shifts momentum. In the standings though, Holytattie still sits comfortably clear on 355.5 points — over 136 points ahead of Flaggy1981 in second. That gap is enormous at this stage of the season.

isosaku77 posted +19. Nineteen over par. Ah here. He did win his H2H against Scruffydog99543 who didn't show, so he'll take the point. But +19 is not a score you want attached to your name. That's a day to forget quickly and move on from quietly.

Four no-shows in Division 2 — Stikky4play, ElMaestro_jmg84, jimmyred147, and Pingman300 all absent. Pingman300 and Stikky4play at least nulled each other out. Cold comfort.

DIVISION 3

Admosis was the story here — -12 at the top, a 12-point haul, and a pair of convincing H2H wins over both Robbie-10-76 (-12 to -4) and YesImRob (-12 to +25). That second one deserves a second look. YesImRob shot +25. Twenty-five over par. I've had bad rounds myself — ask anyone in Enniscorthy — but +25 at a stadium course is a dark day at the office. He's still sixth in the standings on 97 points, which tells you something about Division 3's depth, or lack of it.

Six — six — no-shows in Division 3 this week. Ball2_Skew, BlayNay, Hauss_77, HunkerDownHound, Ipoopedyikes, and Zize1970. Half the division went missing. The draws between the ghost pairings are almost comical at this point. At least Hauss_77 and BlayNay nulled each other, as did Zize1970 and HunkerDownHound. No harm done, but no good done either.

NEWCOMERS DIVISION

MamasClunker keeps rolling. -8, 12 points, maximum haul. Sitting on 41 points in the standings with bjgolfer3324 behind on 35. AppleWifi managed -2 for 10 points, but the other three — bjgolfer3324, DakotaB23, and KineBuds — all no-showed and took the penalty. At this early stage of their Wexford Tour careers, that's not a habit you want to be forming. DakotaB23 is already sitting at -14 points. That's a hole you're digging for yourself before you've even found your footing.

STAT INSIGHT

The gap between first and second in Premier Division — Rundownman at -28 versus Stando Cuz at -24 — is four shots. That's not a close week, that's a statement. Across all five divisions this matchday, no-show penalties were handed out to at least 18 players. Eighteen. That's not a bad run of luck — that's a participation problem, and the standings will punish it in the long run.

The golf at the top was genuinely impressive this week. But the no-shows dragged the whole event down a notch, and some of the Division 3 scorecards were hard to look at. The Wexford Tour doesn't wait for anyone, and the standings are starting to reflect who really wants to be here. Plenty of players only codding themselves at this stage.
