HEADLINE: Rundownman Opens With Statement While No-Shows Hand Out Free Points

Ah here, what a way to kick off the season. While half the field couldn't be bothered showing up for Matchday 1, Rundownman went out to Katsuyama and shot a ridiculous -30 to leave no doubt who's serious about this title. That's the kind of opening statement that separates the wheat from the chaff, and fair play to him for it.

The Premier Division produced some proper golf, mind you. iluvJEEZUS with -28 and imtrippin at -27 — that's quality scoring that shows they're not here to make up the numbers. Jack-Mac21 and beardedbreaux both managed -23, which is solid if unspectacular. But then you look down the leaderboard and see TheDutchman101 shooting +5. Plus five! On a course where the winner went thirty under. That's not a bad day, that's a collapse of epic proportions.

What's worse than poor scoring? Not showing up at all. Padraig1501 and 404Error handed out free wins in the Premier Division, which is poor stuff now. You can't win a championship from your sitting room, lads.

Division 1 belonged to Stewpot, who fired -22 to take maximum points. That's proper golf from someone who clearly did his homework on the course. BigJim_564 stayed within touching distance at -19, but the gap between serious contenders and the also-rans was brutal. PazzoWBA79 shot +10 — that's holiday golf territory — while AnGrY_518 and Benji23_150 didn't even turn up. More free points handed out like candy.

The real surprise package was Division 2, where Pingman300 went mental with -21 to claim top spot. That's better scoring than most of Division 1, and it shows what happens when someone actually prepares properly. HBwilliams stayed close at -18, but spare a thought for isosaku77 who somehow managed +32. Thirty-two over par! That's not golf, that's archaeology — digging holes all day long.

Division 3 was always going to be about survival rather than style, and GolfGriffin did what was needed with -9. Not spectacular, but effective when your closest competition is shooting around even par. C.E.WiZ managed -4 for second, which tells you everything about the standard down there.

The head-to-head results threw up some gems too. ChrisG1987 absolutely destroyed PazzoWBA79 by 27 shots — that's not a match, that's target practice. Holytattie beat ShinStew by 45 strokes, which makes you wonder what ShinStew was actually doing out there.

Here's what's clear after one round: the serious players separated themselves immediately, while the pretenders either shot themselves out of contention or couldn't even be bothered showing up. Rundownman looks ominous early on, but it's a long season and consistency beats one good round every time.

The no-show epidemic is already a problem though — seven players across all divisions handing out free points. That's not competition, that's charity work for their opponents.
