Rundownman Shows Them How It's Done at Augusta

Tuesday 19 May 2026The Masters Β· The Masters (Par 72)

Well now, that's how you play a major championship. Rundownman went out there on Thursday and shot thirteen under par in the opening round of The Masters β€” thirteen under! β€” and left the rest of the field scratching their heads wondering what just happened. That's the kind of round that separates the wheat from the chaff, and fair play to him for putting his foot down when it mattered most.

The chasing pack had their work cut out from the off. RAYvenfanatic managed a tidy ten under to stay within touching distance, which is solid stuff but you'd have to wonder if he's got the firepower to reel in that kind of deficit. Behind him, we had a three-way tie at nine under with Stewpot, War Eagle 1910, and 404Error all putting together respectable opening rounds. Stewpot in particular will be pleased with that start β€” he's been grinding away in Division 1 and a performance like this at Augusta shows he belongs with the big boys.

Wheelman sits at seven under, close enough to cause trouble if the leaders start wobbling, while skyline_time513 managed six under to keep himself in the conversation. That's the beauty of major championship golf β€” one good round and you're right back in it.

But ah here, what was XXYXX13 thinking out there? Five over par in the opening round of a major β€” that's poor stuff now, especially from a Premier Division player. You can't be throwing away shots like that at this level and expect to compete. C.E.WiZ also struggled to five over, though fair dues to him for making something of the week despite the rough start.

The interesting subplot is watching how this shakes up the divisional races. Stewpot's strong showing has him well-positioned in Division 1, while the Premier Division battle at the top sees Rundownman extending his lead with that commanding performance.

One round down, and already we can see who came ready to play and who's just making up the numbers. The weekend should sort out the pretenders from the contenders right enough.
